Raja, a simple-minded young man, falls in love with Rani. Rani works as a domestic servant for Gopalrao and Janaki, an elderly childless couple. Gopalrao loves Rani like his own daughter and even plans to adopt her, but Janaki insists on adopting her crooked nephew instead.
