A sad case of a dying man and his controversial doctor from Northern Australia, where euthanasia has long been legal. Max Bell is dying of cancer and liver cirrhosis. He traveled to Darwin, Australia, to take advantage of the world's first euthanasia law. However, since its approval in May 1995, it has been restricted by political and religious lobbyists. Doctors performing euthanasia face murder charges for the slightest mistakes. Nevertheless, Dr. Philip Nitschke is determined to help Bell achieve his goal. While Bell suffers severe pain, Nitschke searches for a supporting physician and psychiatrist to assist him in carrying out the euthanasia.
