The world of the young Hanoverian Lilly Meier gets messed up when she finds old love letters from Namibia in the estate of her late mother. They come from a man whom Lilly never met - her father. Before Lilly's birth, he apparently tried to get her mother, his great love, to follow him in Africa on his farm.
