Trains always just pass through this town without stopping. Sometimes a boy sits on an empty platform as if he were lost - it is Tommi, the center of the film. When he was eight his mother pointed to his picture and said: "It's a pity." At the age of 15 he had given up on his mother. Now he is in a home for "difficult children" where, according to his stepfather, he belongs. He nails a picture with family photos to the wall. There's a picture of his mother, who today drives a bus through the spooky remains of an East German city and one of his younger brother, who has already learned to behave "normally", which means not creating "difficulties" for himself or others. The mother's brother is a "playroom Nazi" who suffers because he is not accepted by his father, an ex-rocker.
