Karl Schönherr's drama is a ruthless piece of Volkstheater (popular theater), a Strindbergian erotic gangster story about a woman and two men set in the Tyrolean mountains. The local police chief orders a young officer to spy on the illegal  doings of a receiver of stolen goods. The young man approaches the wife of the gangster to get information, but the gangster, having found out about the young man's intentions, tells his wife to flirt with the officer to buy him some time for his criminal transactions. Degraded to a product, the wife uses her increased market value as a weapon against the two men and beats them within their own concepts.
