The enlargement of the EU has created new walls, positioning non EU countries such as Belarus, Moldova and Ukraine on the front line of international migration. Though traditionally countries of emigration they have become countries of destination, hosting an increasing number of both, refugees and migrants. They are the gateway between Asia and Europe.
