Tailypo is an old folktale popularized in the Appalachian region of America. An old man living in the woods, short on food, crosses paths with a strange creature with a long tail. The old man cuts off the creature's tail, eating it for supper. The creature returns to reclaim its tail, killing the old man. The-Li Po: An Appalachian Legend keeps to this general plot.
