From top box-office director Kai Feng (*Din Tao*), *Rookie Chef* teams up rising actress Lorene Ren (*In a Good Way*) with the charismatic Bo-Chieh Wang (*Black Lies, White Lies*) in a story abut gourmet food and family which is reminiscent of *Zone Pro Site*. An irresponsible single father, Chih-Ming, attempts to take his daughter away from Taipei and in the process meets the extroverted Chi-Pao, who has a real talent for cooking. When Chi-Pao starts a restaurant using a secret recipe passed down from the family, the two face a series of accidents and challenges, and must navigate their lives through friendship and gastronomy.
