Louisiana's Mississippi River Delta has been deteriorating for most of the Twentieth Century into our new century. This estuary is extremely important to 60 per cent of the watershed of the United States, the flow of goods and large percentages of the nation's seafood and oil imports. Slowly scientists, planners, commercial interests, and residents have come to grips with reasons for recognizing the crisis. Politicians have, since the nineties, come on board and are embracing a new master planning process prioritizing viable ideas that need to be funded now. "Finding Common Ground" uses documentary film techniques to show the discussion and argument over solutions for Louisiana. Its voices explain their thinking processes and sincerity to get things done. The film shows how these people, now steeped in urgency, can cross over out of their silos, overcome long term opinions and psychological barriers, and achieve new understanding that may fast track restoration projects to build that much needed new ground.
