The founding of the Berliner Philharmoniker on the 1 May 1892, is annually celebrated in an European city of cultural significance. In 2016 the Berliner Philharmoniker travelled to Røros in Norway, to play in the town's beautiful baroque church. For Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto in E minor the orchestra was joined by Norwegian violinist Vilde Frang, who debuted with the Berliner Philharmoniker.
