The first film consists of two intersecting storylines. The first storyline will tell us about the film "Attack and Retreat" (It.: "Italiani brava gente"), directed by one of the founders of Neorealism - Giuseppe De Santis. Our study will be conducted in the same locations where the master created his film. It is planned to collect the material and memories of the participants and eyewitnesses of the film shooting in the places where the film itself was made in the 60s. The second storyline is the story about the three real soldiers' fates, the Italians, who took part in the military campaigns of the Second World War, which took place on the territory of modern Ukraine; comparison of their fates to the ones of the heroes of the film. The second film also consists of two intersecting storylines. The first storyline will reveal the history of creation of "The Truce" (It.:"La Tregua") film, directed by F.Rosi, cinematography - Pasqualino De Santis. Our research will be conducted on the same locations in the city of Lviv (Ukraine), where the film shooting itself took place. We will tell the dramatic story of the film's creation through the memories of the participants and the eyewitnesses of the shooting. The second line is the story of tragic fate of the Italian military corps, which, during the Second World War, was deployed in the city of Lviv, Ukraine; comparison of the film heroes' fates to the real ones of the "brave men" (it.: brava gente), who returned to their motherland.
