Die Brücke, aka "The Bridge", is a drama which combines both the experiences of refugees in Germany and the perspective of the inhabitants. All are facing the situation of living through a cultural change, and all of them are finding different ways of dealing with it. Violence, violation and terrorist attacks - Inga is scared by the news and sympathizes with Pegida, which leads to a nasty argument with her liberal husband. Safi and his family are Syrian refugees who are trying to make up a new life in Germany. And Max is a racist out of boredom, not able to find another way of coping with his own frustration about his shattered family. One day, Max and his friends kill Inga's husband - as a reaction to his attempt at helping Safi's family that was being tortured by the racists before. Now Inga is left alone with her fear, her fury and her grief. And she is slowly starting to understand that it is never an option to close one's eyes to something.
