In the heart of the rural land portrayed by Bernardo Bertolucci’s cinema, peasant Demesio, after some portents and premonitions, realises that the time has come to see his old friends: Robert De Niro, Gerard Depardieu, Donald Sutherland. Forty years have passed since they appeared together in 1900, in what the farmer recalls to be the most enchanting experience of his entire life. After this brief, unique encounter with the magic of cinema, Demesio returned to work the land. He attempts to contact the actors, in his own way, with the intention of inviting them to dinner. This search is aided by three children, who rediscover the values of their land through Demesio’s story: a heartfelt testimony of the changing times, a psychological and social portrait of a man who remained faithful to his ideals.
