Swedish director Ingmar Bergman is usually associated with cinematographer Sven Nykvist. Less known is his collaboration with Gunnar Fischer, whose contribution to Bergman's directing career was pivotal, through movies such as "The Seventh Seal", "A Summer with Monica", "Smiles of a Summernight", "The Face" and "Wild Strawberries", to name a few. Our essay documentary explores Fischer's life and work, based on his still unpublished autobiographical account "Aaterblickar" ("Flashbacks").
