In Paraguay, in the mid-1960s, and as a breakaway of the dance orchestras, musicians began to compose rock songs. This small pioneering group made its way in a country under dictatorship, performing for an audience accustomed to other styles, facing difficulties in gaining exposure, and having limited venues for performances. Despite these challenges, in 1983, the first full-length rock album (LP) was released in Paraguay. These early expressions laid the groundwork for an artistic form of expression that subsequent generations would imbue with diverse nuances. Tours and large-scale festivals became increasingly common, and coupled with a persistent quest for identity, they shaped what we now recognize as Paraguayan rock.
