H.M. Queen Margrethe II has ruled Denmark for 52 years in close collaboration with nine different prime ministers. Five of the prime ministers talk in this newly produced documentary about their unique and close collaboration with the queen, supplemented by touching and unique archive material from all 52 years and with the four other prime ministers who are no longer alive. In brand new footage, current Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen and former Prime Ministers Poul Nyrup Rasmussen, Anders Fogh Rasmussen, Helle Thorning-Schmidt and Lars Løkke Rasmussen lift the veil on what is special about their time with the regent, where both crises and adversity, but also state visits, foreign trips and royal parties in gala and glitter have brought them together. They give us insight into confidential one-on-one meetings, and how they have found the rhythm in the very special intersection between the monarchy and politics in different ways.
