One hundred years after his birth, the relevance of the thoughts of Franco Basaglia, Psychiatrist Director of the Psychiatric Hospital of Gorizia and then Trieste. He eliminated physical restraint and electroshock; he was responsible for the closure of mental asylums and law 180/1978 "Basaglia Law". Since then, the person and their dignity have been at the center of the treatment of mental distress: "freedom is therapeutic".
