Daughters of Maguey is the story of a group of women who decided to break a male monopoly. Despite their historic involvement in the production of agave distillates, archaic traditions and beliefs have kept women under yet another glass ceiling. But the "Mujeres del Mezcal y Maguey de Mexico" are now shattering it. Recognising their own worth and the benefits of working together, these women have joined forces to ensure that Mexico's producers and rural communities get their fair share of the economic boom that is mezcal, while preserving tradition and respecting the environment.
