On September 5, 1945, shortly after the end of WWII, a young couple with two children escapes from the Soviet embassy in Ottawa, carrying top-secret documents exposing Soviet espionage on the Manhattan Project. But Canadian authorities tell them, "Go back." This film tells the story of how the Gouzenko Affair-the defection of a young Soviet cipher clerk-became one of the first triggers of the Cold War.
