Walter becomes a prominent figure in the civil rights movement, rallying the African American residents of West Adams Berklee Hills and gathering support from allies within and outside the community. Together, they demand equal treatment and the right to live wherever they choose. However, their struggle is met with hostility and resistance. White America, unwilling to accept the changing social dynamics, employs various tactics to force the African American families out of the neighborhood.
