Scott's acting career began when he was contacted by Carl Butto of Creative Talent in Las Vegas. Carl had seen him on a talk show, representing Nevada Highway Patrol, on the local PBS TV station in Las Vegas and was impressed by his voice and screen presence. After appearing in dozens of local commercials, Scott landed the part of "State Trooper" on the WB TV series "The Strip", his first SAG part, and later joked with Carl saying, "If I didn't get that part, I shouldn't be acting". He was catching the eyes of prominent Vegas casting directors, most notably Ray Favaro and Merilee Lear, and movie auditions began to come his way. Steven Soderbergh personally thanked Scott for his "Ocean's Eleven" Airport Scene performance. As an honorably retired State Trooper, Scott gives law enforcement roles added realism.
