Mark is an alumnus of The Royal Academy of Dramatic Art and Kings' College London. He received a full scholarship to train at RADA, where he was awarded Honours with Distinction. Born in Auckland, New Zealand, he was a multi-award-winning child actor in Australia, from the age of seven, eventually winning six first places in the same year, in all six categories of the Queensland Speech & Drama Eisteddfod, at the age of eleven. In the same year, he gained the highest Trinity College of London performance exam results in Australia, for his age group, which garnered him the prestigious Barbara Sisley Award, and led to national recognition, and roles on Australian television.

Mark spent most of his childhood in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Australia, before returning to New Zealand for secondary school, where he took leading roles in six theatrical productions over five years, including Oliver (title role), Annie (Rooster), and the Seventh Form lead role of Oedipus Rex - graduating with a Drama Prefecture and multiple Cultural Honours for Drama, English & Poetry. He attended RADA at an auspicious time for the Academy, which hosted the Royal Opening of the refurbished Gower Street premises, and its renowned Vanbrugh Theatre, during his second year. He also had the privilege of chaperoning Lord Richard Attenborough through his 80th birthday celebration at RADA, and received screenwriting mentoring from Alan Rickman, which would inspire his later writing life.

During his early life in the British film and television industry, he moonlighted as a Casting Assistant to BAFTA Winner Nina Gold (Game of Thrones and The King's Speech), reading behind the camera for the Rome, John Adams, and Virgin Queen auditions (HBO & BBC), while taking screen roles alongside household names; as the son of Danny Huston and Jennifer Ehle alongside Amelia Warner in Alpha Male (Xingu Films, produced by Trudie Styler and Sting); as Pliny The Younger alongside Simon Callow as Pliny The Elder in Roman Mysteries (BBC); and as the Older King Edmund of Narnia in the Disney/Walden Media film adaptation of The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch & The Wardrobe. His notable onstage roles include Trent Conway in Six Degrees Separation at the Manchester Royal Exchange Theatre, and Romeo in a well-received touring version of Shakespeare's Romeo & Juliet at the Nuffield Theatre Southampton, Arundel Castle, and the Holder's Festival in Barbados.
