Niki Edwards, originally Dyana Nikole Edwards, was born in Kailua-Kona Hawaii where she spent most of her childhood. Performing arts have always drawn Niki out of her shell, she began her love of the stage with The Big Island Children's Theatre. She grew up traveling between cities in the US with her family, from California to Arizona and all over the South East. Her mother has a creative Gypsy Spirit which eventually led her to Atlanta, Georgia, to reclaim her Southern roots.
Niki attended High School at South Gwinnett, where she was very active in Theatre and Swimming. She enjoyed her moments in the water almost as much as performing in front of her peers. She wasn't just a performer though, Niki has always found a fascination with lighting, props, and set design.
Niki graduated High School in 2007 and attended Georgia College & State University, Now Georgia College, and graduated with a degree in Theatre.
Upon graduation, Niki returned to Atlanta in pursuit of a prestigious year long internship with the Theatre Company, Actors Express. There she learned the world of professional theatre could be an exiting and intense beast, but she fell in love. Her roles included, Equus Ensemble, Izzy in Seminar, and Janey in Sarah Gubbins World Premiere of A Sense of Things. She continued to gain knowledge in the art of crew life as Assistant Stage Manager for the World Premiere of Steve Yockey's Wolves.
At the end of her internship, Niki began to pursue a network in the other Atlanta Theatres, eventually finding herself on crew for a few different independent short films. it was then that she knew her future was in film.
Since then, Niki has been acting in Short independent films, Feature independents, and a few different web series in Atlanta. Companies including Blackflight Studios, Spirit World Films, IAF Media, Single Serving Pictures, Monolopolus Productions just to name a few. When she isn't performing she is behind the camera, seeking out a career in directing. Keep your eye out for Niki Edwards, she has her sights set on the festival circuit of 2017.
