Joan Baker is undeniably a change agent in the voiceover industry! Ms. Baker is a sound to be reckoned with as one of New York's premier voice-over actor. She's the winner of multiple Promax and Telly awards for TV commercials, promos and documentaries, as voice actor, on-camera host and producer. Professional voice-over credits includes; narrating a documentary about the founding of the William Jefferson Clinton Library, now a part of the library's permanent display; ABC Daytime, CBS Sports, HLN, TBS, ESPN, Showtime, Chase, Walmart, Coke, American Express, the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences and many more. Joan is the first VO artist to take on being a national spokesperson for the top brand microphone, Neumann since 2009.
Joan Baker along with her husband, Rudy Gaskins is the founder and board member of the Society of Voice Arts and Sciences, which is a 501c status nonprofit. (SOVAS(TM)) seeks to aggregate the global media community of voiceover talent, branding specialists, marketers and talent agents with a focus on recognition of exemplary work across all categories of the industry: SOVAS(TM) oversees the Voice Art® Awards and That's Voiceover!(TM).
Author of Secrets Of Voiceover Success: Top Voice-Over Actors Reveal How They Did It. Compelling stories of the top voice-over actors in the industry, including the one and only, Don LaFontaine and many more. All proceeds benefit the Alzheimer's Association. Joan also co-writes in a monthly advice voice over column for Backstage Magazine, called Voiceover Over Exchange, since 2013.
Ms. Baker is an igniter on the Voice Acting teaching circuit, with an almost therapeutic style of engaging students on a visceral level, to personally connect with the craft and trends of commercial advertising scripts. A show stopping musical cabaret that brings together the voices of Broadway stars and top voiceover actors who, through song and spoken word, lend their voices to the millions of those who have lost their voices to Alzheimer's and other forms of dementia.
