Named by Playback as One to Watch, Samantha MacAdam is a Guyanese-Canadian branded television and film director, as well as an award-winning screenwriter.

Based in Toronto, Samantha's career began in film editing, an invaluable skill set she utilizes as a filmmaker. Her directorial comedic debut, "Prom Night", which she also wrote and co-edited, premiered at Just for Laughs and became a top 5 finalist in Kevin Hart's Lol Eat My Shorts Showcase. The film is now available on Hart's Lol Network.

Recent directing projects include "Shelved", a new comedy series from showrunner Anthony Q. Farrell (the office) and producer Colin Brunton (schitt's creek), directing and co-writing commercials for the Junos featuring Barbie's Simu Liu, and she is in early development on a coming-of-age dark comedy with The Edge Entertainment (Cascade/The Witch). Samantha has also directed a feature-length movie-of-the-week romantic comedy for Reel One, two CBC Gem comedic series, and most recently, a thriller/horror short based on true crimes featuring the music of Our Lady Peace.

Samantha has also directed pilots for CBC, Cream Productions, and Clique Pictures. As a writer, she wrote the story for The Nut Job 3, in an animated feature film franchise contest, the film starring Will Arnett and Maya Rudolph. Samantha has also written two feature screenplays that are currently in development, a thriller/horror, and a fish-out-of-water comedy.

Samantha's work has received numerous spotlights, including the 2022/2023 Warner Bros. Discovery and the Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television Director Initiative, Women In The Director's Chair: Story & Leadership, and Toronto International Film Festival's Big Pitch Event. She has also earned two Promax Awards nominations, one for Best Director and Best Live Event, for her Juno Awards commercials.

Samantha is currently represented by Revolver Films and The Characters Talent Agency.
