Alex's performance was praised by the Hollywood Reporter as "[...] perfect. Weiner's big doe eyes and baby face make his descent into violence all the more disturbing". The film was lauded at its premiere at the Busan International Film Festival in South Korea, and went on to secure distribution and win multiple awards worldwide.

Alex went on to star as Jimmy Basso in the TV pilot Fugazi, which he co-created with his long-time collaborator Jesse Camacho. His performance earned him a 2019 ACTRA award nomination for Best Actor. Jesse and Alex would go on to form Camacho Weiner Inc, a film company focused on storytelling and IP development.
