As an actor, Yao has played leading roles at The Royal National Theatre and West End, in several BBC dramas, and in Universal Pictures' Doom. As a journalist, Yao has reported lead and breaking stories for four years at ITV News, spent a further four years working at Al Jazeera English, and most recently reported across China for CGTN.
