Sandy Kay grew up running barefoot through the foothills of Kentucky. She moved to New York to pursue a modeling career, and had success when signing with Ford. While working as a model, Sandy began to study acting. Her many credits include: the world premiere of "Currents Turned Awry", by Pulitzer Prize winning playwright, D. L. Coburn and "Hello Bob", by Broadway playwright, Robert Patrick. An enjoyable film role was beating Arnold Schwarzenegger in the head with a purse in "Jingle All The Way."
Sandra debuted as a director in New York City, at the Nat Horn Theatre. She has directed and produced over 300 live performances in NYC, LA, and MPLS including: Alan Ball's, "Five Woman Wearing the Same Dress." For film, she directed a romantic criminal comedy, "Organized Crime" and a 1969 rock drama, "Sound Booth."
Sandra founded an acting studio in Minneapolis called, The Performance Studio. Wide Variety Theatre (WVT) is an important part of The Performance Studio. Sandra founded the theatre in MPLS. Now with performances in LA and MPLS, she has cast, directed, produced and hosted over 70 productions of WVT.
While teaching in Minnesota, she co-created and was the showrunner of an original sketch variety show called "Irelene Television Theater" now called "ITT 3-D TV NETWORK." This unique idea sparked a call from Carsey-Werner which started the ball rolling toward creating original television concepts...and Sandy headed west.
