Jo was born in Chicago and grew up in Colorado. After graduating from Sonoma State University with a degree in Communications, she started her acting career in San Francisco. She is currently a speaking coach for The Slomoff Group and lives and works in Los Angeles with her husband, Stephen Kearin. Jo is a member of Impro Theatre and directs and performs full-length improvised plays with their main company.
