John Tate 5 Ocak 1915'te Sidney, Yeni Güney Galler, Avustralya'da doğdu. Kumsalda (1959), Smithy (1946) ve Great Expectations (1967) filmleriyle tanınan bir aktördü. Margaret Anne Barton ve Neva Carr-Glynn ile evliydi. 19 Mart 1979'da Freshwater Bay, Isle of Wight, İngiltere, Birleşik Krallık'ta öldü.
