Harvey Morris, President and CEO of Tuff Stuff Productions, is an Emmy Award winning producer, songwriter, vocal arranger, professional drummer an actor and videographer. His extensive and diversified experience has contributed to his reputation as a consummate professional in the entertainment industry. He is making history with his hair-raising remake of the most iconic song in the history of African-American culture, The Negro National Anthem, "Lift Every Voice and Sing."
Harvey was born in the Bronx of New York City. His parents recognized his joy for music early and purchased his first drum set when he was just 2 years old to keep him from banging on their pots and pans. At age 4, Harvey and his cousins would sing and dance at family gatherings to the sounds of Motown and Stay Records. By then, it was clear to Harvey's family that he was destined to become an entertainer.
He grew up in a household with God-fearing grandparents and attended the St. Luke A.M.E. Church in Harlem. When he was 8 years old he began singing in the children's choir under the caring directorship if Yvonne Clark. By age 12, Harvey had recorded his first commercial for American Airlines under the tutelage of musical director Leon Tubman, also of St. Luke A.M.E. Church. The years to follow have proven to be a constant progression and refinement of his talent.
In 1999, Harvey founded Tuff Stuff Productions (TSP). Their motto is, "Welcome to Tuff Stuff Productions where you can be the star you are!" His company is committed to success and excellence, a creed in which TSP was founded. Mr. Morris's vision is to help empower people through entertainment and business. His objective is to discover new and unique talent and develop artists into well-rounded entertainment and business professionals. He also desires to encourage these professionals to become vanguards of the entertainment industry.
Through his effort, TSP has landed contracts & booked performances (for Morris & other TSP clients) with some of the most notable names in music. Mr. Morris has shared the stage & worked on projects with Stevie Wonder, Cameo, Ceelo Green, Adam Levine, Mos Def, The Main Ingredient featuring Cuba Gooding, Freddie Jackson, GQ, A Taste of Honey, Bobby Humphrey, Taylor Dayne, Alyson Williams, George Faison, acclaimed producer of the Broadway play The Wiz, Gavin DeGraw of J-Records and others. He has collected a patchwork, quilt-like scrapbook where the pages continue to be filled with tour dates, photographs, recordings, wonderful opportunities and memories. Harvey has also had the privilege to work in many successful wedding organizations and landmark venues that include Valli Music, Doug Winters Music, Steven Scott, Total Entertainment, Skip Brevis Music, ETA, Band of NY, The United Nations, The American Museum of Natural History, The Hayden Planetarium, Waldorf Astoria Hotel, The Rainbow Room, The Universal Amphitheater and The House of Blues in Las Vegas.
Mr. Morris has tipped his hat to voiceover work on the Nickelodeon network and produced music for Ashley Stewart, a clothing company for women. He also produced music for a PBS special called Voice in Conflict, which earned him an Emmy Award in 2009.
In his acting debut, Mr. Morris had the opportunity to work with Film Director, John Carney, actors Mark Rufflo, Keira Knightly, Catherine Keener, Hailee Steinfeld and Ceelo Green in the movie (Begin Again) which was released in the summer of 2014. In 2017, he had the wonderful privilege of working with Film Director, Michael Gracey, actors Hugh Jackman, Zac Efron, Zendaya, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II and Natasha Liu Bordizzo, in the movie, "The Greatest Showman."
One of his most treasured accomplishments is the release of his 2016 gospel CD entitled "Harvey Morris & The House of Praise." Harvey stated that through the grace of God, he was able to bring forth the gospel in the way the spirit of God lead him. "The music, the lyrics, the music videos and the compositions were all divinely inspired," he said.
There is much work to be done and so few to do it. I want to be one of the few that get the job done. -Harvey Morris-
