Chip Fields 5 Ağustos 1951 tarihinde ABD'de doğdu. The Amazing Spider-Man (1977), Menace II Society (1993) ve Blue Collar (1978) filmleriyle tanınan bir yönetmen ve oyuncudur. Erv Hurd ile 20 Ağustos 1994'ten beri evlidir. Daha önce John Randolph ile evliydi.
