Marnitz van Deventer is a classically trained actor with over ten years of experience.
He is currently seen as Pieter in the film Amandla by Nerina de Jager. Recent film credits include a significant part in A Tous Les Vents du Ciel (Twisting Fate) by Oscar-winning producer Christophe Lioud and The Chemo Club by Thandi Brewer.
Marnitz received his B.A. in Theatre and Performance from the University of Cape Town in South Africa. While pursuing his degree, he performed in (Re)membered at the UNESCO World Festival of Theatre Schools in Romania. During this period he committed himself to community theatre and became involved in the Clanwilliam Community Arts Project and Arepp: Theatre for Life whose primary focus is developing resilient youth.
His television credits include roles in Ngempela, Pandjieswinkel-stories, Bloedbroers and a variety of commercials. Theatrically, Marnitz was seen portraying Andy in the revival of Sing jy van Bomme, directed by the late Gerrit Schoonhoven. Together they also created a one-man performance, Bird, which took part at the International Dublin Gay Theatre Festival and the Krêkvars Theatre Festival.
Marnitz wanted to explore the Spanish culture and is currently honing his teaching skills at a community-orientated school in Madrid. He is also the owner of MVD Entertainment, where he produces theatre shows and tutors drama workshops privately.
Marnitz is fluent in Afrikaans, English and has an intermediate Spanish level.
