Jan grew up on an old farm on the coast of Cornwall, United Kingdom. He is one of four siblings, born to an American mother and British father, of primarily Greek, Russian, Scottish, and Eastern European descent.

From a young age, Jan developed a passion for the performing arts, including card magic and music, especially the guitar. He pursued his passion for music and theater, securing a coveted spot at The American Academy of Dramatic Arts in Hollywood through a competitive audition process. While earning a degree in Acting for Theatre and Film, Jan's performances caught the attention of an agent during a show of Noel Coward's Present Laughter, directed by Ian Ogilvy.

Jan has appeared in several television and film productions. His notable credits include the USA/Japan-produced biopic Leonie (2010), portraying renowned artist Isamu Noguchi. In this film he appeared alongside acclaimed actresses Emily Mortimer and Christina Hendricks. Jan's musical talents have led him to perform at prestigious venues, such as the iconic Whisky A Go Go in Los Angeles.

In addition to his performing arts career, Jan is an accomplished photographer and designer. His works have been published in respected publications including National Geographic Traveller and The Sunday Times. He also served as Vice President for several years at a successful American company, and lived in Central Europe, where he began work on his own company intending to donate a portion of the proceeds to environmental causes.

Jan is a firm believer in continuous self-improvement and lifelong learning. He has a keen interest in science, the outdoors, and nature. His regular activities include surfing, skiing, mountain biking, and running. A health food enthusiast and keen reader, Jan is writing his own dramatic stage play. He advocates strongly for environmental awareness, protection, and wildlife conservation.

Jan is a student of the esteemed Warner Loughlin Studios, a private acting school in Hollywood, where he continues to hone his craft.
