Smart. Sexy. Savvy. Ingénue Jenny Pellicer wears them all very well.
Like her character, Emily, on "State of Affairs" with Katherine Heigl,
Pellicer is a woman of many identities. Born and raised in Oslo, Norway
to a Norwegian-American mother and Mexican diplomat father, Pellicer is
truly multi-cultural in a way that is new and exciting to Hollywood.
On "The Bridge", Pellicer explores her Mexican side as Romina, the
drug-addicted daughter of a rich politician heavily involved with the
drug cartels. Conversely, Pellicer plays Lise, a classy Norwegian
reporter in the forthcoming, "Untitled Gerardo Naranjo Film".
The fact that Pellicer speaks four languages and holds three passports
has helped her book interesting roles, but undoubtedly her looks, too -
green eyes, blonde hair, and wholesome natural beauty plays a part in
not being labeled by any one aspect of her identity.
Pellicer came to acting after a substantial education and career. After
graduating valedictorian from the international school in Oslo,
Pellicer spent time in Costa Rica working for the Ministry of Health to
combat the spread of dengue fever. She went on to get her law degree
with a specialty in International Human Rights from Durham University
in the UK. From there Pellicer moved to London and worked for Newsweek
magazine.
Pellicer moved to Mexico to help her relatives start up a successful
restaurant business. There in Mexico City, surrounded by a supportive
family steeped in the arts - her uncle was renowned poet Carlos
Pellicer Camara, and her aunts had been actresses themselves: Pina
Pellicer is renowned as one of Mexico's finest actresses, a "realist"
in a time of acting melodrama. Pina worked with Marlon Brando in the
Oscar-winning One-Eyed Jacks, and another aunt worked with Tyrone Power
in Captain from Castile. - Pellicer rekindled a desire to act. Pellicer
recognized what her next move would be...
Arriving in Los Angeles, Pellicer met with a childhood friend from
Norway. One fortuitous evening the girls went to dinner with her
friend's dad and his close friend, who happens to be a talent manger.
This manager attempted to discourage Pellicer from acting, but after
witnessing her in a taped audition, signed Pellicer immediately.
In a very short time Pellicer booked recurring roles on "The Bridge"
(FX Network) and "State of Affairs" (NBC), as well as the forthcoming
"Untitled Gerardo Naranjo Film". Pellicer brings her cross-cultural
comfort to each character she plays.
