Gale Baker is also a writer, composer, director and producer with over a dozen musicals and plays produced throughout the United States including her award winning musical "Waterin' Hole." She has written several books, including her first, Neon Queens about the lives of showgirls from 1950 through 2000 published in 2002. She also has several works of fiction in publication and has earned several writing awards. She was inducted as a Distinguished Member into International Society of Poets with an Editors Choice Award from National Library of Poetry.
Originally a jazz singer and international recording artist, she opened for comics like Don Rickles and Rodney Dangerfield in Las Vegas where she was nominated for 'Lounge Act of the Year" with her own musical group. She appeared in numerous films, commercials, television shows including General Hospital in Los Angeles and starred over 25 theatrical stage productions across the U.S. A member of the Dramatists Guild, ASCAP, ATAS, AEA/SAG-AFTRA and others, Gale entertained at Armed Forces Clubs worldwide.
After studying litigation at UCLA in California, she managed large corporation and Class Action cases and was Corporate Claims Director for Circus Circus Enterprises before moving to South Carolina. There she first worked as a reporter and earned two South Carolina Press Association Awards before becoming Youth Arts Director for the S.C. Fourth Circuit Solicitor's Office. She was voted Chesterfield Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the Year 2005.
