Valerie Loo is a US-based, Singaporean actress best known for her debut television role as 'Nicole' on Hulu's American Horror Stories. Fluent in English and Mandarin, Valerie was born and raised in Singapore, before moving to Phoenix, Arizona in 2013, where she attended Arizona State University. She earned her Bachelor's Degree in Biochemistry and did oncology research at the ASU Institute of Biodesign. Prior to coming to the US, Valerie took part in the fourth season of a nationally televised singing competition in Singapore, 'Campus Superstar', and finished at 7th place during the Live Shows. While attending graduate school in 2018, she was scouted by a local modeling agency in Phoenix, which led her to move to Los Angeles in 2019.
In October 2020, she starred alongside singer, Pink Sweats, as the female lead in his Music Video for the song 'At My Worst', which reached global acclaim with over 100M views. She then signed with LA-based management and began to professionally pursue acting at the end of the same year. Shortly after, in March 2021, Valerie was cast in the aforementioned top-of-show recurring guest-star role on Ryan Murphy's HULU Anthology Series, 'American Horror Stories' which premiered later that year, marking her very first television appearance. In the following months, she was selected to be a part of the Actor Ensemble for the 2022 Sundance Institute Directors Lab, where she worked with Director Yuan Yuan on her feature 'Late Spring', that was being developed during the Lab. She then starred in the 2023 re-imagination of the critically-acclaimed 2014 genre film, 'Last Shift', entitled 'Malum', and was then a top-of-show guest star on the Paramount+ reboot of 'Criminal Minds'.
Though she doesn't pursue it professionally, Valerie grew up doing ballet, Chinese dance, and modern dance, and thus enjoys movement and is able to pick up choreography swiftly. This led to her being cast in the leading role of two dance-related short films: 'Dancing in a Forbidden World', written and directed by fellow Singaporean Val Tan, as well as Megan Lee's 'En Pointe', which premiered at DisOrient Film Festival, LA Shorts, and Burbank International Film Festival in 2023.
Valerie will next be seen in a Paramount+ feature film in a yet-to-be announced role.
