Matt and Mikey Granger, the filmmaking duo known as "The Granger Bros", have been creating their unique brand of screenplays and films for well over a decade.
The Granger Bros' produced/co-written horror short "Chained" was an Official Selection of Screamfest LA 2011, received the 2012 Rincon International Film Festival Award of Excellence and has been an Official Selection in festivals around the world including the 2014 Housecore Horror Film Festival in Austin, Texas. Matt and Mikey have now adapted "Chained" into a feature screenplay entitled "The One You Feed", which is being produced by Brad Peyton ("Rampage", "San Andreas), and helmed by director Jeff Renfroe ("The Colony", "Chucky").
The brothers were co-writers of the 2020 indie action/horror film "Penance Lane", starring John Schneider, Daniel Roebuck and Tyler Mane, which is available on numerous VOD platforms and streaming services. Most recently, the brothers have written two segments for the upcoming, Sci-Fi anthology "Valara", produced by Electric Panda Entertainment, producers of such award winning films as the Oscar winning short "Skin", "The Kindergarten Teacher" starring Maggie Gyllenhaal, and the upcoming Leonardo DiCaprio documentary "Finding 52".
Matt & Mikey are also the co-writers of "GWAR in the Duoverse of Absurdity", the legendary shock-metal band GWAR's 2022 Graphic Novel from Z2 Comics.
PAST WORKS:
In 2009, director Quentin Tarantino chose the Granger Bros' Pulp Fiction spoof "Quarter Pounder with Cheese" as the winner of MTV's Bastardize Tarantino contest. Following this success, the brothers raised close to $15,000 in one of Indie-GoGo's earliest crowd funding successes for their 2010 TV pilot "The Charlie Da Clown Show", which can be seen on Will Farrell's "Funny or Die" along with their follow-up "Crazy Dracula Spring Break Weekend".
Additionally, The Granger Bros' short film "Epic" featured rare comedy performances by Robert Patrick and Harrison Ford, and in 2013 they created numerous short segments licensed by Lionsgate for use in the film "Good Luck Chuck". In 2013, the brothers' feature comedy screenplay "Alien Abduction" was optioned as part of the "Final Five" in the Cinecoup Film Accelerator competition and received international recognition.
In addition to their work in film, the brothers co-created and organized 2012's "519 Punk Festival", an outdoor music festival, featuring 11 punk/metal bands headlined by the legendary "GWAR" in their first and only international, unmasked performance by the late Dave Brockie. The successful event raised several thousand dollars for numerous charities.
In their spare time, Matt and Mikey enjoy long discussions about "whose fault it is", painting self-portraits with watercolours and imagining a future where we will all live in perfect harmony with our robotic overlords.
