Caryn White Stedman was born on October 1, 1954. Her background lies not in acting but as a student and professor of Asian Studies and world history.
She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in East Asian Studies and History from Penn State University; and earned her graduate degrees (Master's and Ph.D.) at the University of Arizona. She also has additional post-graduate education certifications from Yale University, Sacred Heart University, and holds Connecticut professional educator certifications in history/social studies, Chinese language, and Supervision and Evaluation.
Through her continued passion for foreign study, she is dedicated to providing rich international and global experiences to all her students through field studies abroad, opportunities for summer, semester, and year-long exchanges, hosting international students and infusing authentic international curricular activities into all classrooms using electronic media. In 2003, she arranged a tele-conference between her tenth grade students and a group of students in Iraq, which was featured on Good Morning America (1975)
Not only has she studied foreign cultures, but she has experienced them by extensive travel to or living in Japan, Korea, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Nepal, India, Pakistan, Jordan, Kuwait, Afghanistan, Iran, Turkey, Greece, Italy, France, Germany, Switzerland, England, Scotland, Wales, Ecuador, South Africa, Mexico, Jamaica, and Grand Cayman.
While she was living in Taiwan and Hong Kong, she was cast as Linda Lee Cadwell the wife of Bruce Lee in the biopic, Yong chun da xiong (1976) about the martial arts icon. Although she has no other acting credits to her name, she continues to contribute to the world at large as a professor of East Asian studies and world history.
