Apollon Yachnitsky was a Russian actor of theatre and film known for
his portrayal of Tsar Pavel I in the biopic
Suvorov (1941).
He was born Apollon Vladimirovich Yachnitsky on May 9, 1906, in Kiev, Russian Empire (now Kiev, Ukraine). From 1923 to 1926 he studied acting at the Russian Drama Theatre in Kiev, graduating as actor, then joined the company as a member of the troupe. He moved to Moscow after the Second World War. From 1952 to 1964 he was member of the troupe at Moscow Theatre of Satire. From 1964 to 1970 he was a member of the Moscow Theatre of Film Actors (Kinoaktera). Yachnitsky was married to actress Olga Vasilyeva. He died on November 8, 1980, in Moscow, and was laid to rest in Vvedenskoe cemetery in Moscow, Russia.
