James Maxwell 23 Mart 1929'da Worcester, Massachusetts, ABD'de doğdu. An Enemy of the State (1965), The Portrait of a Lady (1968) ve World Theatre (1959) filmleriyle tanınan bir aktör ve yazardı. Avril Elgar ile evliydi. 18 Ağustos 1995 tarihinde Londra, İngiltere'de öldü.
