Rachael Wotherspoon is a New Zealand born Actress, Designer and Filmmaker who trained at The Groundlings Theatre & School and at the Auckland Performing Arts Center. Rachael began Acting in New Zealand as a child, studying Drama and Theatre. Her Filmmaking debut earned her an Award at the Los Angeles Independent Film Festival For Your Birthday (2017) and she placed as a Semi-finalist in ScreenCraft's 2022 TV Pilot Screenplay competition, securing her a spot on Coverfly's Red List.
Straight out of high school Rachael began working full-time to help support a family member during a tough time, while putting herself through Drama School and Acting Class part-time; studying under acclaimed Coaches Peter Feeney, Vicky Yiannoutsos, Fiona Edgar and Miranda Harcourt. Rachael continued to dedicate herself to her craft, studying at The Auckland Performing Arts Center, The Actors Lab and The Actors Program in New Zealand, followed by landing roles local New Zealand Dramas, National TV commercials and Film.
Rachael relocated to LA and threw herself into her work; booking roles in multiple acclaimed Indie Films, while simultaneously working as a Web Developer for local small businesses in her spare time. Shortly thereafter she booked several International Commercials and Films including Something Borrowed (2017) and Lapsed (2017). At this time Rachael also began developing her skills as a Screenwriter and Filmmaker, earning high industry praise for her work. Rachael has gone on to create multiple original pieces, a strong Editor - often writing, shooting, producing and editing her projects herself.
In between work Rachael continues to dedicate her time to honing her craft, attending workshops and training under renowned American Acting Coaches Larry Moss, Joseph Pearlman and Bob Corff. Rachael has gained multiple awards on the Indie Film circuit and participated in festivals, including Raindance Film Festival and Roger Corman's "Corman Quarantine Film Festival".
Rachael comes from a culturally diverse family in New Zealand and also has heritage from Poland and Scotland. Hailing from an Artistic family, including a Musician Grandfather, she is the only Actor in her family. Rachael is a Mezzo-Soprano and paints in her spare time. She is an active Human Rights, Women's Health and Animal Rights advocate / activist.
