From her theatrical debut at the La Jolla Playhouse, to her national TV
debut on Lifetime Television, Lina Acosta has courageously shown the
acting world she is funny and witty in a way few beautiful women can
be. Her range of characters on stage include a Cuban prostitute, a
Puerto Rican cha cha queen and Miss East L.A. in Rick Najera's
Latinologues at the San Diego Rep Theater, a Mexican Geisha in Josefina
Lopez' Confessions of Women from Boyle Heights at Casa 0101, and an
optimistic Hooters waitress in Gloria Calderon's In her Shoes at the
Hudson Avenue Theater. She played various roles in the sketch comedy
show Play Things, where the LA Times proclaimed her "[a] blissful comic
actor". Lina demonstrated her dramatic talent playing the Wife in Blood
Wedding at the La Jolla Playhouse and a pregnant junkie on Lifetime
Television's Strong Medicine. Other TV roles include Telemundo's
Angeles, Reyes y Rey and numerous commercials. She is Norma in HBO
Film's, Real Women Have Curves, winner of the Sundance Audience Award.
Her natural ability as a leader has led Lina to write, perform and
produce sketch comedy with The Busy Beavers and PMS (Pinche Mentirosa
Sisters). Lina dreams of one day earning an Emmy Award and proving
those that have said she has the "IT Factor" right!
