Derrick was raised in Michigan and caught the acting bug after moving
to Indiana in 1989. He spent his junior year of college abroad in
Strasbourg, France, and spent the next several years establishing his
roots and living in other European cities as Paris and Graz (Austria).
His love of acting blossomed in Paris, where he got his professional nod co-starring in "Napoleon" with French celebrity Christian Clavier. Only a few months later, Derrick landed his first supporting role as a CGI character named Jonas in Enki Bilal's science-fiction feature "Immortal Ad Vitam". He also garnered impressive stage credits in Paris, performing in Edward Albee's "Everything in the Garden" at the Espace Pierre Cardin and the lead in an original play called "A Different Day" at the Galerie de Nestle Theatre.
He speaks perfect French and very good German. Although living several years in Europe has endowed him with a different flavor, he has always considered the United States home. He now resides in Brooklyn, New York.
