St. Louis native, Steven Cutts, is a passionate multi-hyphenate creative first known for his acting role as Shaun in the cult-classic movie musical, "Camp", with Anna Kendrick and Robin De Jesus. After attending the Boston Conservatory at Berklee for acting, he appeared in the U.S. National Tour, Toronto's original Canadian, and Broadway productions of the international hit "Hairspray". He appeared on Broadway opposite the likes of actors Naturi Naughton, Harvey Fierstein, Aaron Tveit, Lance Bass, and Jenifer Lewis. In 2013, Steven starred as Jimmy Early opposite Tituss Burgess' Effie White to standing ovations for Broadway Backwards' "Dreamgirls". The viral video quickly amassed well over 2 Million+ views prompting two more encore performances in 2015 & 2021. The latter performance streamed live on a night that included 2022 Academy Award winner Ariana DeBose, Debra Messing, original Dreamgirl Sheryl Lee Ralph, Tony Shalhoub, and the legendary Ben Vereen.
Steven has appeared in several indie films, including a breakout performance in "Mother of the Week" which was an official selection of the New Filmmakers New York, Orlando International, and Big Apple Film festivals among others. The festival favorite went on to win the Northeast Film Festival's audience choice award. In 2021, he co-executive produced and lent his voice over acting talents to indie shorts "A Snapped Heel" and "A Standup Guy Named Larry", both set for release in 2022. Steven wrote and directed the latter. He also served as the on-set acting performance coach and creative producer of "Born Sinner", which showcased as part of the American Pavillion's Next-Gen Student Film Screening at the Cannes Film Festival in 2023. He also began the adaptation of his three person play, "Subletters", for film to co-star opposite Broadway's original Jasmine in "Aladdin" star Courtney Reed.
Steven directed the world premiere staging of the Off-Broadway bound play "Hazing U: A Modern Greek Tragedy", which showcased at NYC's Hudson Guild Theatre as part of the 2020 New York Theatre Festival. In February of 2023, the production made a transfer to off-Broadway, playing the AMT Theater with Cutts continuing as its director. In 2023, Steven joined the creative team of Broadway Bares alongside writers Hunter Bell, Troy Britton, Amanda Green, and Lynn Shankel. Broadway Bares: Pleasure Park raised $1,887,014 for Broadway Cares.
His book "My Big Fat Broadway Debut!" reached the #1 spot on Amazon's Hot New Releases list in Broadway & Musicals. In 2021, he founded the viral #speakblackwallstreet movement headlined by himself and television actors Carly Hughes of "American Housewife" and "Wu Tang Clan's" (Hulu) Julian Elijah Martinez.
