Peter Welch is a New York City based multidisciplinary artist. He was educated in public schools and
attended SUNY Plattsburgh and New York University where he
studied a broad liberal arts curriculum.
He is probably best known for his fine art photographic work, which has been exhibited in various venues throughout world. These images often explore the American landscape in an attempt to find a sense of place in an ever changing, commercially oriented environment. Other themes touched upon are the harmonious relationship between life and death, the unpredictable nature of human experience and the random nature of the artist's own life. This work has been recognized multiple times by the International Photography Awards, as well as the Palm Springs Photo Festival.
As a filmmaker Peter directed the popular indie feature "Three Long Years," which was distributed internationally by Zurich based Diva Releasing in 2010 and is now available for free on YouTube. He also co directed the experimental film "The Piles Project," which features Art World superstars Mark Kostabi and Taylor Mead. Recently he completed the no-budget short films "Hard Drive" and "Love or Death In Manhattan."
In addition to his film and photography work, Peter has had three full length plays produced in New York, as well as three one act plays. One of his full length plays, "Don't Tell Mother," is the source for a new television series titled "The House Arrest Rooneys."
