Behtash (Béh) Fazlali is an award winning actor and first-generation immigrant from Iran. Growing up in Toronto, Ontario, he gravitated towards film as a channel to help navigate and gain a better understanding of his life between two worlds.
He made his professional acting debut in the Toronto International Film Festival's (TIFF) 2014 short film Sahar. For the same film he was nominated for and won 'Best Actor' at the Vancouver Short Film Festival (VSFF). He has since appeared in several television shows including The Flash, Arrow, iZombie, No Tomorrow, and more. He has also starred as a lead in various feature films such as The Evil in Us and Wired Shut, both of which garnered him 'Best Actor' nominations at the Leo Awards.
Behtash studied in the Acting for Film and Television program at Humber College in Toronto, Ontario, where he went on to become a compelling and versatile actor. He is professionally trained, having studied in the works of Strasberg, Stella Adler, Meisner, Laban and Uta Hagen. He has also received formal training in improv, movement, combat, stunt-work and voice acting.
Having gained a reputation as an up-and-comer in the Canadian film industry, Behtash is excited to continue building momentum in his career with lead roles that help break barriers, challenge stereotypes and foster understanding. With a profound belief in the power of storytelling, he is committed to help promote inclusivity, acceptance and genuine representation in the industry.
He can more recently be seen in his return to TIFF, with this year's premiere screening of Motherland (2023); a film about an Iranian immigrant meeting his American fiance's parents during the height of the 1979 hostage crisis.
Behtash is of Persian ancestry and is bilingual in English and Farsi. When he is not immersed in acting, he finds solace in music, cherishes his family, loves playing basketball, and actively contributes to amplifying the voices of the oppressed in Iran.
