Ed Gibbs is an award-winning producer and writer based in London. He is best-known for WHITE RIOT, the acclaimed documentary about the Rock Against Racism movement, which won the Best Documentary Prize at the BFI London Film Festival in 2019, prior to a global theatrical release in 2020/21. His films, which use art and popular culture as a lens to explore universal themes of identity and belonging, have premiered at festivals worldwide including Sundance, Berlin, Tribeca and Hot Docs, and screened nationally through Curzon and Picturehouse.
Ed hails from a background in film and music journalism. Prior to becoming a producer, he was the Sunday newspaper critic for The Sydney Morning Herald. A former magazine editor, he has also written and/or broadcast for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC), the BBC, Empire, GQ, Little White Lies, MOJO, Rolling Stone, Time Out, The Times and The Guardian, among others. In addition, he has advised and/or programmed for a number of festivals in the US, the UK, the Middle East and Australia.
