Based in Sydney, Australia John's move into Unit Still Photography is backed by many years of experience on set.

In 2014 after three decades working within the camera department he made the move to satisfy a long-held desire to make this area of the industry his primary focus. This places him in a unique position as a Motion Picture Still Photographer being the only shooter within Australia to have first risen through the ranks of the Camera Department. These years in Camera give him a crucial advantage, the trust of the crew.

"There are times when the Unit Stills Photographer depends on the help of other departments to achieve a particular shot. Thanks to the strong relationships formed over my years within the Camera Department, I know I will receive that assistance from the crew without hesitation."

"My aim as a Production Still Photographer is to tell the story of the scene through a single image. Achieving the results with as little disturbance as possible to the actors, crew or the flow of the day's work".

John's photography has been purchased by buyers throughout Australia, the U.S. and Canada. His work has hung in Panavision Australasia and their head office in Los Angeles.

Presently he is preparing his first book, 'Observations' based on his behind the scenes images shot over the last thirty years on set. In "The Shadow Catchers" Author Martha Ansara's book celebrating the history of the ACS and Cinematography in Australia the number of John's images included was second only to that of The Australian Film and Sound Archive.
