Tai-Shan Schierenberg is a British portrait painter, based in London.

He had an early exposure to the arts and liked drawing as child, in his teens he began painting with oils..

Schierenberg was accepted at St. Martin's and later the Slade School of Art for postgraduate studies, which he completed in 1987.

He shared the National Portrait Gallery's John Player Portrait Award in 1989, and received a commission to paint the portrait of playwright John Mortimer for the Gallery's collection, which also holds his portraits of Lord Carrington from 1994, Lord Sainsbury 2002 and Seamus Heaney from 2004.

He completed a double portrait of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Phillip as a commission for their Golden Wedding Anniversary.

Since 2013 he has been a judge on both Portrait Artist of the Year and Landscape Artist of the Year programs presented by Sky Arts.
